John Thomas Tranter was the second son of William and Fanny Tranter, he was born 15th October 1923. He married Miriam Kimber in 1943 but was sadly killed on June 14th 1944 before their first wedding anniversary.

John's siblings were William Ernest, Joyce, Gladys, Leonard, Ronald and Margaret. He also had a sister Doreen who sadly died as a toddler. John lived at 110 lock house Broad Street Wolverhampton where his father was lock keeper.

His mother and sisters have all been to Bayeux to visit his grave.
