Private, TF/201922 (5535), 1st/7th Battalion, Middlesex Regiment.
Derek was born at Thompson, Norfolk on 30th May 1894 one of the three children of Robert (a farm bailiff) and Annie Elizabeth Brown who later lived at King Street, Neatishead, Norfolk.
Educated at Hevingham, Norfolk he later lived at 6 Lincoln Road, Ponders End, Middlesex.
He enlisted at Enfield, Middlesex on 15th November 1915 and went to France on 14th March 1916.
Derek Brown died on 16th September 1916, aged 22, during fighting at Falfemont Farm.
