James Morgan Allen was born in 1896 at Borough, Southwark and enlisted into The Queen's Regiment in February 1915. He served in France with the 2nd Battalion from 1 June 1915 and was killed in action on 1 July 1916 on  the First Day of the Battle of the Somme. The unit were part of 7th Division and attacked near Mametz, he is commemorated upon the Thiepval Memorial.
