Private, 11334, ‘A’ Company, 12th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers.
Michael was born in Amble, Northumberland, the youngest of at least eight children of Thomas (a coal miner) and Elizabeth Timlin. After Elizabeth's death Thomas married Ann Moody.
He enlisted at Ashington, Northumberland and went to France on 9th September 1915.
Michael Timlin died on 3rd July 1916, aged 23, while part of a bombing party in Shelter Wood situated at the back of Mametz Wood.
He is also commemorated on a plaque in St. Aidan RC Church, Ashington.
His brother, Private Thomas Timlin, 84155, 3rd/4th Reserve Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers, died on 10th July 1918, aged 29. He is buried in grave G. 18 in Ashington (St. Aidan's) Roman Catholic Cemetery.
