Maurice was born on 13th November 1896, one of at least three children of Sydney Frank (a book-keeper) and Jessie Mary Maria Weston of 19 Epperstone Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham.
He was educated at Nottingham High School (1909 to 1911) and then joined the staff of the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Bank.
He enlisted as Private 62751, Sherwood Foresters, trained with the university OTC before receiving his commission in January 1916 and went to France in March.
Second Lieutenant Maurice Sydney Weston, 6th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment) died on 27th April 1917, aged 20, during an attack on Quarries and Cologne Farm in the Hargicourt area.
He is also commemorated on the Nottingham High School War Memorial and Roll of Honour, the University College Nottingham OTC Memorial and memorials in West Bridgford St. Giles as well as the Baptist Church.
His brother, Lieutenant Kingsley Vale Weston, Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) died on 10th April 1918, aged 23. He is buried in grave St. Paul's 9791, Nottingham Church Cemetery. The CWGC headstone includes a reference to Maurice.
