Caitlin Bailey to join Commonwealth War Graves Commission as Area Director for CAPA

Caitlin BaileyThe Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) is delighted to welcome Caitlin Bailey as Area Director for Canada, Americas and Pacific Area (CAPA).

An accomplished non-profit leader and history professional, Caitlin Bailey joins the CWGC from the Vimy Foundation where she served as Executive Director for the past seven years. Under Caitlin’s leadership, several landmark digital initiatives were released, including an onsite app for the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, Vimy: A Living Memorial, and last year’s Living Stories expansion.

Prior to this, Caitlin held the position of Executive Director of the Canadian Centre for the Great War, which she co-founded in 2014 and amalgamated into the Vimy Foundation in 2022. In 2024, she was recognised as one of the Top 50 Women Leaders in the City of Montreal.

Caitlin is committed to ensuring the longevity of the memory of the World Wars, and to finding new and interesting ways to tell the human stories behind the headstones.

Commenting on her appointment, Caitlin said: “The Commission is an organisation that I have admired throughout my career, and it is a pleasure and privilege to join their global team.”
